A paid opportunity to work as a trainee assistant on a Young Vic show

With the support of the Boris Karloff Foundation, the Trainee Assistant Director Program gives emerging directors the opportunity to shadow an assistant director on a Young Vic show. Trainees observe rehearsals, previews and the run of a Young Vic production, and learn about the role of an assistant director, the etiquette of the rehearsal room, the relationships between the creative team, the craft of the actor and the technical rehearsal period. They gain first-hand experience in a supported environment working alongside an assistant director on a professional production.

The role is targeted at emerging directors who have less than two years’ experience of working professionally in theatre as a director and have not studied to MA level or above.

Supported by the Boris Karloff Charitable Foundation.
