Angela Mhlanga

My name is Angela (She). I am a trained actor and multi-disciplinary artist based in Coventry though my work has featured in
London, Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa. My work heavily involves the use of recyclable materials
when creating sculptures and paint work mainly consist of silhouette figures in brightly coloured scenes.

Writer, The Future Show

‘The Future Show’ was originally written and performed by theatre‑maker and playwright Deborah
Pearson. She took the audience through her own imagined future from the minutes after the performance
ended to her eventual death decades ahead.
Each of the writers have recorded their own ‘chapter’. These have been edited together to create a 1 hour
version which advances into the future.
Angela Mhlanga – from taking the bins out to making a cup of tea, Angela analyses the mundane moments
if of everyday life with an invasive detail and description.

Hatching Residency: The Tipping Point
Talking Birds, Coventry
This work involved telling a story of the city projected against iconic buildings in Coventry as well as hidden
places and using the reflection of the Canal waters. The show itself is set against a variety of hand painted
backgrounds . Sort of like a visual tapestry submerged in water.
