Class & Coronavirus

Thursday 25th June

10am - 12pm

Directors Stef O’Driscoll and Caitriona Shoobridge invite you to join a discussion on Class and Coronavirus.

This is open to creatives who identify as working class, benefit class, underclass or criminal class. You don’t need to have come to a previous session to come along.

Over the past several weeks as the Coronavirus crisis has unfolded it has become clear that those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds have been hit the hardest. From those working in front line jobs to the inequality of the lockdown experience, people from working class, benefit class, criminal class and underclass communities are more likely to be affected by the virus.

This Class and Coronavirus discussion will introduce the focus group that are representing the larger Class and Coronavirus community and their work in bringing the challenges of working class, benefit class, criminal class and underclass artists to the attention of the wider industry. We’ll also share details of the Class and Coronavirus Mentoring Scheme.

There will be a speaker’s corner session for anyone who would like to put an idea to the group or bring a specific point to our attention. If you have something you would like to contribute, you can let us know in advance on the sign-up form.

If you would like to attend this discussion then please sign up here so we can send you the Zoom details in advance of the session.

RTYDS is currently curating the Young Vic Directors Programme. You don’t need to be a member of the Genesis Network to take part in this session, but you do need to be a professional director, designer or producer and not in full time education.

You can find out more about the Young Vic Genesis Network and sign up here.

The Genesis Network is funded by the Genesis Foundation.
