Micro-commissions, and Making Work at Home.

Young vic

Micro-commissions, and Making Work at Home.

Thursday 20 August

2.00pm – 5.00pm

In this workshop, led by Jude Christian you will have the opportunity to  talk about the practicalities and possibilities of making work for a society in lockdown - the relationship between liveness and digital, how artists can engage with audiences and with each other, and how the work we make in these challenging times can help us lay fruitful ground for the future, as well as keeping us connected in the present.

Each workshop participant is invited to present their idea for a micro-commission to be made in lockdown, for feedback and discussion with the group. Each participant is invited to come to the workshop with an initial idea for a piece of work that follows the parameters of the Homemakers initiative Jude led on for HOME in Manchester when she was Associate Director.  An idea with a budget for £1000 for work of any form, scale, subject or duration, to be presented to an arts organisation's audience through their website on a pay-what-you-decide basis.

You can get more information on Homemakers, including the complete set of commissions, at: https://homemcr.org/event/homemakers/

If you don't want to present an idea but still want to attend the workshop, that's fine. Jude will use the ideas presented as a starting point for discussion about the wider subject of creating work for an online audience, and also as a way of exploring constructive dramaturgy and feedback when discussing ideas.

If you are interested in attending, please click the sign-up button above and fill in your details. Please tell us your access requirements so we can get appropriate provision in place as soon as possible.

Closed captioning is available for all our Zoom workshops and details on how to use this will be provided on the day.

Zoom details will be sent to you the day before the session. This session will be recorded and made available afterwards.
