Open Session: International Student Discussion Group

Monday 17 August

7.00pm – 9.00pm

Global Origins is leading a discussion group/networking session for current and incoming international drama school students who are facing unique challenges in the time of COVID-19.

This group offers attendees the space to articulate and address their personal concerns at this moment. There will be opportunity to discuss issues including isolation from home or family, anxieties surrounding visas, fees for drama schools, lack of in-person training and models for programming international work, with the aim of creating a safe and democratic space for dialogue.

Global Origins will then facilitate an open discussion about collective ways to organise and empower students already in the UK and build solidarity with those who will be moving here to attend drama school. Together, the group can chart concrete steps for the future, including a blueprint for organisation, a resource list and helpful contacts for logistical and emotional support.

Global Origins ask that all participants are non-UK (or dual) citizens currently training at a UK drama school or intending to begin training this autumn.

Please confirm you are attending this session by clicking the sign-up button above.

Closed captions will be available for this session via Otter AI and details on how to use this will be provided on the day.

We will ensure that access provision is in place for all participants. Please let us know if you have any access requirements using the space on the sign up form so we can get appropriate provision in place.

Zoom details will then be emailed to you on the day of the session.

Open Session is an initiative for directors, designers or producers on the Genesis Network to run a one-off session, discussion, or initiative.

This is a peer-led session that is not curated by RTYDS or Young Vic.

Please note that to join the Genesis Network you should not be in full time education.
