Susie MacDonald

Susie MacDonald (she/her) is an award-winning director of new writing and devised theatre with a passion for storytelling, experimenting with music, lighting and DIY special effects. Susie has directed new plays that have gone on to be longlisted for The Popcorn Award for New Writing and The Women's Prize for Playwriting.

Projects include devised show ‘Finding Percy Erebus’ (Shortlisted for Edinburgh Untapped Award 2022), and new play 'Colossal’ by Patrick McPherson; following award-winning runs at Edinburgh and Perth Fringe (Theatre Weekly’s Best Show of the Edinburgh Fringe 2022 ‘A perfect nucleus of theatrical brilliance’*****, and Best Theatre Show 2023 Perth Fringe), Susie oversaw the sold-out transfer to Soho Theatre where the show won Best Sound Design at The Offies 2024.

Since graduating from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Susie has worked as a resident director and drama teacher in a secondary school, making theatre with young people.

Co-founder of Mushmoss Collective, a multi-disciplinary arts collective who create immersive, interactive worlds between storytelling, music and game design.
