Elin Schofield

Director Movement Director Writer

My name is Elin. My pronouns are she/her. I am a director, writer and movement director working primarily in new writing and artist development. I co-founded and directed both award-winning, small-scale touring company, Footprint Theatre for over five years and the Young Company (18-25) at Sheffield Theatres for three years. Projects that involve working dramaturgically with artists to create new work interests me. I am drawn to implicitly political work that is accessible, that places underrepresented experiences at the centre and engages with its audience through humour.

I am an NSDF Associate and a Mentor Director for NT Connections. Additionally, I am currently one of four directors supported by The Bank at Sheffield Theatres. You can find out more about the artist development scheme here.

I am a highly experienced facilitator having led workshops at schools, colleges and organisations such as the Old Vic, Leeds Playhouse, Paines Plough, Derby Theatre, Sheffield Theatres, University of Sheffield, University of Reading and the National Student Drama Festival. I have experience with a wide range of groups, including emerging artists, school groups, artists with learning disabilities and/or autism, adults living with dementia and inter-generational community groups.

I am also an ex-competitive Latin American and Ballroom dancer and teacher and a fully qualified Personal Trainer.
