Soeren Wellens

Theatre Director Deviser

Hello, my name's Soeren and I am originally from Germany. After working as a drama and languages teacher for 13 years, I started studying an MA in Theatre Directing at UEL in 2020 and will graduate from this course in the summer of 2022. Recently, I have been working a lot on devising political theatre pieces about housing issues, failings of the DWP and the negative sides of the Olympics.
I have some experience of working professionally in the theatre (quite some time ago now), as a performer and an assitant director. I have worked a lot in amateur dramatics too.
I am interested in working as a director professionally and I am captivated by moments on stage when someone's life grinds to halt, when they dig deep into their soul and emotions, when the bare their most inner turmoils. I am interested in putting scripted work onto the stage.
