Hello there! My name is Adam Laboda: I am a working class, queer director, writer, and performer who is based in North West London.
I create work that explores queer and working class experiences, telling stories in a fun and playful manner. My most recent play, Desperate Times received two fantastic 4-star reviews. It featured a story about young queer man choosing to take control of his own destiny and live a life away from his families farm. It ran from the 9th - 13th May at The Lion and Unicorn Theatre, featuring a diverse cast of performers and creatives from across the planet.
Over the next few years I will be collaborating with more artists to develop interesting new works and bring them to the public. I like to play with traditional theatre formats, such as naturalist-plays, to break down barriers for queer stories.
A major focus of my creative process is playfulness - all the work I create is done in a fun, playful and safe environment, using a variety of stories, games, and exercises to build our productions.
Feedback from creatives I've worked with:
'Very patient and easy to work with... Also great at getting his vision across whilst still being open minded and encouraging input'
'He was always very organised and created an enviro[n]ment in which you could be as creative as you wanted'
I use He/Him/They/Them pronouns
