Adam Laboda

Theatre Director Playwright Performer Queer

Hello there! My name is Adam Laboda: I am a working class, Queer director, writer, and performer who is based in North West London.

My focus recently has been establishing myself in London after finishing education and the recovering from the pandemic. Whilst doing that, I have been creating works that focus on exploring queer experiences in working class settings. I also have a passion for adapting western gothic Classics, with my two most popular plays being adaptions of Frankenstein and Jekyll and Hyde.

Now that I have established myself with a home here, over the next few years I hope to collaborate with more artists to develop interesting new works and bring them to the public. I like to play with traditional theatre formats, such as naturalist-plays, to break down barriers for queer stories.

A major focus of my creative process is playfulness - all the work I create is done in a fun, playful environment, using a variety of stories, games, and exercises to build our productions.

I was elected leader of the Drama Society at my University, through which I provided weekly drama-based workshops, created, produced, and directed seven performances, and built up lasting connections with upcoming creatives.

Feedback from creatives I've worked with:

'Very patient and easy to work with... Also great at getting his vision across whilst still being open minded and encouraging input'

'He was always very organised and created an enviro[n]ment in which you could be as creative as you wanted'
