Joelle Ikwa

Theatre Director Writer

My name is Joelle Ikwa (she/her) and I am a story teller and aspiring theatre and film Director. My journey in theatre began in Coventry at the Belgrade Theatre over 10 years ago, where I went from a youth company member, workshop facilitator, assistant director to Director. I aim to share stories that empower and make a difference. With experience as a youth violence intervention worker, I am passionate about raising awareness around issues that affect young people such as knife crime and mental health. Theatre being my creative conduit, I find fulfilment in the positive impact that it has on people. I am interested in continuing to make work, and exploring the touring aspect more. I am also interested in exploring film work too and growing skills in that area. I have acted in a short film before and also previously directed and produced a short film documentary.
