Sophie Lifschutz

Director

Sophie has directed prime-time television and her theatre work has gained 5 stars in The Times, Critics' Choice in Time Out and an Evening Standard Award nomination. She is a regular director at the BBC, directing Eastenders and Doctors.

Sophie has assisted at Shakespeare's Globe, the Rose Theatre in Kingston and the Soho Theatre, amongst others. She spent 18 months at the National Theatre, first as Resident Director of the NT Studio and then as Staff Director on Howard Davies' The Last of the Haussmans and Katie Mitchell's Hansel and Gretel. Sophie staff directed Olivier Award-winning Goodnight Mister Tom on its Number One tour prior to the West End transfer.

Amongst other theatre productions, Sophie directed Kieron Barry's sell-out verbatim play Stockwell which played at the Landor Theatre to critical acclaim. It subsequently transferred to the Tricycle where it helped win the theatre a Liberty Human Rights Award.
