Shane ShayShay Konno

Playwright Theatre Director Drag Artist Screenwriter

I’m ShayShay (they/them), an Irish-Japanese-American non-binary writer, director and drag artist with eight years experience of writing for theatre, cabaret and pantomime.

I’m a graduate of Yard Theatre’s Live Lab & Soho Theatre Writers' Lab 2022. I am a current delegate of The Network, Edinburgh TV Festival, and will soon take part in Criterion New Writing.

I use comedy to explore trans/non-binary Identities, Asian diasporic experiences, and the intersections of race & queerness. I subvert stereotypes, creating outrageous, yet relatable, characters and transform underrepresented narratives into fast-paced, colourful stories that remain accessible to a wide audience.
