I am Marley-Rose (she/they), a theatre artist, educator, emerging producer, and educator originally from Brooklyn. I am currently led by a curiosity of the intersection of scholarship, community organizing, access, space making and theatre arts. I think the essence of theatre is truly the gift of community and the transformative nature of seeing oneself reflected. At the moment I'm thinking a lot about imagination as a foundational way of achieving and defining a collective sense of liberation and care. How do we carry urgency beyond just the moment of public conflict within our spaces of creation? How can empathy be a tool of resilience and healing? How do we build, articulate and commit practices which go beyond just showing up to a protest? How do we define social responsibility? How do we mobilize our imaginations past the confines of our current cultural political and social climate? We must have the courage to ask, how do we embody and move through the complexity of difference? —Isn’t that the space of care that we build from to support and uplift emerging artists especially so in this moment?
