Charlotte Churcher

Writer Playwright Producer

I am an Australian playwright raised in Spain and have been living in London for four years. My writing has explored topics such as toxic femininity, relationship abuse, life in rural communities, and the impossibility of
escaping traps of our own making, all of which I am exploring through my first full-length play. I am also part of the Marylebone Theatre's Emerging Playwrights group.

With a BA in English Literature and an MA in the History of Art, I like to apply a multidisciplinary approach to my writing to bring out both the textual and visual poetry of my work. Having lived in Spain, Holland, Australia, and the UK, my writing is heavily influenced by my international background and I'm very interested in thinking about the form and themes of my play through the lens of different theatre traditions.

I am interested in writing plays that hold conflicting truths together, using language as the focal point to inform the rhythm and world of the play.

Very keen to do more collaborative work and explore all the facets of theatre-making.
