Paloma Sierra (she/her) is a writer and director who crafts narratives, musicals, and poetry for theater and film. Inspired by the Hispanic trova tradition, she integrates speech, music, design, and performance to create immersive experiences that transcend linguistic barriers. By taking words beyond the page, Paloma explores how words can surpass the limitations of language to increase opportunities for multilingual narratives and artists.
Her work across stage and film has earned her a U.S. Fulbright scholarship, an appointment as the first Emerging Poet Laureate of Allegheny County, and recognition from the Dramatists Guild of America and the Writers Guild Foundation. She has developed new plays, musicals, operas, and spoken word with Jermyn Street Theatre, Theatre Now New York, Project Y Theatre Company, New Hazlett Theater, Conch Shell Productions, and City of Asylum, securing development and production opportunities at renowned venues like Edinburgh Fringe, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and the Kennedy Center. Her videopoem “I Am Soil Breaking Off” received international acclaim, winning the inaugural ¡Tú Cuentas! Cine Youth Festival Grand Prize.
She is a proud alumna of LAMDA, Carnegie Mellon, CELCIT, the Fornés Playwriting Workshop, the Academy for New Musical Theatre, and Eberly Center’s Future Faculty Program.
