Lucy Fennell (she/her/hers)
Lucy is a director, theatre maker and highly experienced facilitator. She is currently an apprentice intimacy director with IDI UK.
As a performer she specialises in improvised theatre and is a member of ‘Impromptu Shakespeare’. She is currently working on a new performance concept which melds improvisation with prepared performance in a bid to infuse scripted work with the spontaneity and authenticity of improvisation.
She is experienced in immersive and interactive theatre and uses her improv and poetry skills to create exciting one-off performances for festivals and events.
Lucy is a specialist provider of arts education and outreach, creating projects with community groups and schools, and providing consultancy services for clients such as the NHS. She is an emerging director, most recently having worked as assistant director on Blackeyed Theatre’s new adaptation of ‘Jane Eyre’. She also has considerable experience working with young people as a youth theatre director and was a sessional lecturer at University of the Creative Arts in Farnham, teaching the devised theatre unit.
She likes to watch and make performances that causes the audience to fizz with enjoyment and/or prickle with pathos.
Her directing style is robust and adaptive, actor centric and collaborative.
