Recent theatre includes An Apple A Day, An Ideal Husband, A Woman Of No Importance, Gates of Gold, The Gigli Concert, The Government Inspector, Ivanov, La Ronde, A Month in the Country, Pentecost, The Playboy of the Western World, Platonov, Porridge, The Revengers Tragedy, The Seagull, Three Sisters, Uncle Vanya, Wife to James Whelan, You Can't Take it With You, Gavin has been nominated for BBC Talent New Filmmaker Award, Cannes Film Festival Cinnefoundation Prize, Samuel Beckett Award for excellence in Theatre and the Off West End Award for Best Director.
In 2018 Gavin was awarded the Knowledge Exchange Award from Liverpool University. In October 2019 his production of Go, Lovely Rose transfers to the Liverpool Tate Modern.
