Anna Berentzen

Director

She/Her. I am a director and theatre maker from Manchester. I initially trained and worked as an actor before joining the Royal Exchange on their Young Directors course. In 2020, I co-founded Hawkseed Theatre which aims to support, develop, and celebrate new writing that raises the voices of those often under or mis-represented on stage. I'm particularly excited about theatre which has creative access at its very heart. I believe very much in working with a language that is useful and tangible to all the artists in the room. Music and voice is a huge part of my practice and I am always very keen to collaborate, particularly across art forms. My work is intrinsically human, hopeful, and magical. I'm partially deaf and am currently studying British Sign Language Level 3.
