Sophie Drake is a theatre director and dramaturg based in London with an interest in new writing. She has worked on large-scale productions in the West End and on Broadway.
As director and dramaturg, she has developed new writing including THE SOCIETY FOR NEW CUISINE by Chris Fung which ran at the Underbelly 2023. Her reimagined version of SEA WALL by Simon Stephens was performed for the first time by a woman at the Turner Contemporary in 2022 before going on an international tour. As Associate Director she has worked with directors including Rupert Goold, Michael Grandage & Sean Mathias and with actors including Ian McKellen, Penelope Wilton & Tom Hollander.
Current: Sophie is working as the Associate Director to Rupert Goold on the Broadway Transfer of Peter Morgan's PATRIOTS at the Barrymore Theatre.
Sophie's has just opened the European Premiere of Angus Cerini's multi-award winning play THE BLEEDING TREE at Southwark Playhouse, which runs until 22nd June. https://southwarkplayhouse.co.uk/productions/the-bleeding-tree/
