Alex is a neurodiverse, LGBTQIA+, Irish-Cornish film and theatre director specialising in new music theatre and plays integrating a strong musical element.
He trained National Film and Television School (NFTS), Bristol University, and at the VGIK Institute of Cinematography in Moscow.
Alex has twice been a finalist for the RTST Peter Hall directing award, nominated for the Peter Brook Empty Space Award for his work at the Grimeborn Festival (2009) and received a nomination for Best Director at the 2020 Stage Debut Awards for his production of Dave Malloy’s Preludes.
He was also resident director at the National Theatre in 2017. In addition to his directing work, Alex lectures on music theatre history at ArtsEd, Mountview, Associated Studios, and Urdang.
