MYAH ASHA JEFFERS (b. 1994) is a London-born, Barbados-raised, award winning artist whose practice spans photography, theatre and film.
Her work focuses on witnessing and documenting the nuances of daily life within diasporic communities.
With her practice exploring 'Black Interiority’, Jeffers closely examines themes such as class, cultural identity, queerness, grief, gesture, and truth.
She is the former Literary Associate at the Royal Court and in a freelance capacity for the theatre has, directed work for the Queer Upstairs project, as well multiple pieces for the highly acclaimed Living Newspaper project in 2021.
She most recently developed and directed a number of pieces for the Writing for Performance project which brought together 12 emerging and form pushing writers from across the Caribbean - supported by The Royal Court Theatre, British Council and University of the West Indies.
