Hetty Hodgson

Theatre Director Facilitator

she/they

I am a queer, neurodiverse, Jewish theatre-director, story teller and co-artistic director of multi-award winning Pigfoot, the first explicitly carbon-neutral theatre company in the UK.

I want to make work which is political but empowering & recognises the intersectionality of injustice and political issues, that roots back to the human, and uses storytelling to raise big issues in digestible, understandable, and accessible ways. Work that is crucially live in its necessity to spark discussion.

I’m interested in working with writers dramaturgically from an early stage of development. To make work which is politically responsive, challenging, accessible and want to work in ways which is collaborative and formally exciting. Music, design & form is front and centre of my work & collaborations from the get go.

I want to make work outside of London as well as in it and work which tours nationally. I believe theatre theatre can only reach it's full potential when spaces are created where everyone can do their best work, so I put access at the front and centre of every process I am leading, and am determined to continue learning about how to do this. My process is open & collaborative, and I believe many minds is always better than one.
