Richard Keith
Director
I / he originally trained as an actor before working as an actor, a director and a teacher.
Currently I'm a Visiting Lecturer at Central School of Speech and Drama; and an Associate Lecturer on the University of Northampton BA Acting Course. I have also taught voice and speech extensively.
I recently completed my PhD at The Shakespeare Institute, University of Birmingham, studying intercultural theatre, especially Japanese translations and productions of Shakespeare.
I'm interested in all different types of plays, but especially work with wonderful and challenging language. I love classical text; but am equally at home working on other genres - absurdism, for instance, or any modern play where the language is central to the expression of the characters and the storytelling.
Having lived in Singapore and Japan, I have an interest in Asian forms of theatre and stories from that part of the world.
