Jessica Kaliisa

Director

I am an actress and director. My most known work is the award winning Queens of Sheba produced by Nouveau Riche which went on to win the Stage award in 2017 and an Offie award in 2020 for Best Performance Piece. My vision revolves around the compelling truths in human nature that are explored through performance and how that affects both the performer and the audience. My most recent work was directing The Hear Me Now monologues co-produced by Titi Dawadu and BlackFest that seeks to give a platform for Black and Asian actresses a place for their stories to be heard on stage. As a black actress herself, I am particularly keen on making more space for actresses of different ethnicities on stage and allowing them to tell stories from their truths. Acting credits include: Ackley Bridge (Channel 4), Call The Midwife (BBC), Cuttin’ It (Royal Court) , Doctors (BBC), Murder in Successville (BBC).
