Simon Fraser

Designer

Detail-orientated practising artist and designer with a background in a variety of artistic mediums. Versatile skill set with 5 years’ experience within the art and theatre industry; as well as a portfolio of varied accomplishments including exhibitions and theatre design projects. Accustomed to working in deadline-driven environments with an emphasis on working within budgeting requirements. Exceptional collaborative and leadership skills with significant ability to perform under pressure. History in hospitality delivering comprehensive customer service, sales and written and oral communication. Passion to join a fast-paced creative team where collaborative work is celebrated.

I am a queer artist and designer of performance space with a background in Fine Art Sculpture. I have recently been accepted onto Wimbledon's MA course in Theatre Design, to start in the autumn.

the majority of my work is site-specific, but as a designer, I have had credits at the Bush Theatre and The Lion and Unicorn Theatre. Working within the theatre industry since I graduated with a BA Fine Art degree from Chelsea College of Art in 2017, (following a foundation degree in Art and Design at Central Saint Martins) has given me crucial, the first-hand experience of how a theatre company operates, including all of the technicalities that surround the craft.

Within this time I have involved myself in all areas of production, including developing and expanding my logistical knowledge of the running of a company, throughout a programmed season. All of this has given me a very concrete foundation to guide me forward in a career in design.

I am interested in furthering my understanding of site-specific performance as I believe this will be a very interesting avenue of theatre that will need to be discussed and explored again. With my understanding of working site-specifically, I am excited to work alongside like-minded people who want to adapt to the times and still produce amazing work.
