Hello! I'm Sara Balestrieri and I've just graduated from MFA Design for Performance Costume at the University of Edinburgh. Before I studied Narrative Techniques at Scuola Holden Academy (Turin, Italy), where I specialized in Filmmaking.
My working experience is mostly on set, for independent or student short movies, where I was in charge of the costumes.
During these years, I could develop my art skills in drawing and making, dedicated all my time to create costumes from scratch. Researching, sketching, designing, and then making became my method to create. I had as well the chance to discover and improve my knowledge with programs as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere. I am confident with the computer, and I learn really quickly new programs.
Thanks to my studies and my experiences in the Film Industry, I learned to work in a team, respecting deadlines, communicating my ideas clearly but, especially, solving problems quickly. When you work with other students or young professionals in a small or zero budget productions, you have to know how to go beyond the difficulties with few means in a really short time, prioritizing your tasks and help each other to find the best solutions for the whole team.
I am a hard worker and I am not scared to get my hands dirty: for finance my studies, I always worked in shops or restaurants full or part-time. Even if far away from my passions, these experiences really helped me to be punctual, always smiling and be nice with my colleagues and costumers, carry out different tasks at the same time, and learning to give my best in every situation, regardless my interests.
I love working with people, bringing my positivity and cheerfulness to the team. I’m a naturally helpful person, well-organized and focused on delivering quality work that’s of the highest standard. I want the best for everyone and I try always to offer sympathy and support to others.
My goal now is to put the first steps in the industry at a professional level.
