Matthew Coulton

Director

Hailing from Yorkshire, Matthew Coulton is a London-based actor, director and movement director with a specialism in devised and physical performance. His work as an actor and deviser includes Complicité; English National Opera; Chester Storyhouse; Theatre by the Lake; Leicester Curve; and BBC TV & Radio - as well as international projects in Ukraine and Italy. He has puppeteered for Lyric Hammersmith and Slot Machine Theatre amongst others, and movement directed several Off-West-End 2020 Award and Standing Ovation 2020 nominated productions. Matthew has also worked as a director, a producer of shows and festivals, a dramaturg, and as an acting/movement teacher (inc. The Actors Centre). He is interested in play; craft; ensemble; skewed, striking imagery; and cross-cultural dialogue. Matthew is associate artist for So It Goes Theatre, A New Diorama Emerging Company 2020.
