Joanna Vymeris, she/ her
I am a theatre, circus and movement director and run contemporary circus company The Feathers of Daedalus. I have been an acrobat and circus performer from a young age and took up directing whilst studying at Cambridge University. On graduating in 2016 I founded my company to make multidisciplinary work to demonstrate the ability of circus as a storyteller and collaborator. Since I have produced and directed 6 productions which have been seen in the UK and Brazil. I began by searching for fantastical stories to adapt, from Greek myths to A Midsummer Night's Dream, but more recently have looked beyond adaptations. My most recent productions are a part improvised show based on live audience Tarot card readings and a children's show in collaboration with poet Roger McGough inspired by his poetry.

Training

I am about to start the MA in film producing at the National Film and Television School and have already had a week long workshop as part of the selection process

I completed a 6 month professional circus training course at Circocan in Brazil working with professional circus directors

I have completed various other 1 month professional intensive trainings at Circus warehouse in NYC and in Barcelona working with top movement and circus professionals.

I completed 4 years at the London Youth Circus being directed by Ockhams Razor and having workshops with them and the Jasmin Vardimon company

I have completed grade 8 in LAMDA and Ballet and competed in sports acrobatics at a national and international level as a teenager.
