Katia Lom

Director

I am a woman of mixed background, ethnically and artistically. Originally from Switzerland with Czech and Argentinean roots, I have a background in dance and fine art, staging productions of my choreographic works in London including at The Place, Rich Mix and the Siobhan Davies Studios. In 2016 I transitioned into film and studied at the National Film & Television School (NFTS) on the Directing Animation MA. It was there that I developed a passion for working with actors, and since graduating I have been continuing to develop my work as a director. Alongside developing my own film projects I am also a researcher on history documentaries, working for Paul Greengrass, James Erskine, October Films and RAW TV. As a director I am particularly interested in the relationship with text as a sound score, the evocation and power it generates and how it is not just the words but HOW they are spoken that creates meaning. I love Shakespeare, Tennessee Williams and Arthur Miller where daily life is put on stage into great drama, and where the words are given room to sing.
