Keir Aitken
Director
Movement artists
Hello, I’m Keir Aitken (he/him), a Glasgow/Edinburgh based director who believes that theatre should celebrate its own theatricality and place audiences at its centre. By offering some autonomy over the outcome or shared experiences of my performances, I attempt to provide the audience with co-authorship. My most recent work is in VR performance, an incredibly exciting medium as it provides me with yet another way to place participants at the centre of my work.
With easily available social platforms such as twitter, we can be part of, and have influence upon, the greatest stories of our time. I believe theatre can be a space to emulate or critique this process, and in my work, I’m always questioning, what does it mean to participate?
