Daniel Passi

Director

Stage Director & Performer born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Artistic Director of the London based production company Overtone Theatre .

The company’s language focuses on the radical reimagining of literary sources through physically vigorous practices and visually engaging productions.

Main UK direction and adaption credits include Home Burial, based on the poetry of Robert Frost (The Cockpit, Etcetera, Old Red Lion and Teatri Riflessi Festival, Italy) and Siblings (The Space, Aug. 2022), based on the work of Cuban playwright Jose Triana. In 2021 I received a commission by Tsitsit Festival to translate, adapt and direct The Life of the Great Don Quixote (As Written by the Jew Antonio José da Silva). The play, a 21st century re-imagining of the 18th century Portuguese playwright A.J da Silva’s version of the story of Don Quixote was created in collaboration with an international group of London based theatre artists and was shown at the Jewish Museum London.

Main training include Visual Arts at Parque Lage School of Visual Arts (BR), Performing Arts at The Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (BR) and Theatre Directing at the University of Essex (U.K). In 2018 co-founded the Rio de Janeiro based performance collective Terror Barato.
