An Introduction to Sound Design
Thursday 16 July
10.00am – 1.00pm
This workshop led by sound designer Peter Rice will start from the very foundations of sound and listening, working through how that is paramount in developing the skills needed when considering how sound can play a part of your production either as a director or designer.
There will be exercises in listening, considerations about text and discussions about how a sound designer can be part of a production process. We will also consider how they can work best to develop a sonic world for a project and work collaboratively with a director and other members of the creative team. Peter will also discuss how the set of the shows he has worked on change his initial approach to the project, based on period, materials, natural/abstract nature etc.
Bring your mind, questions and ears.
This workshop is specifically tailored for both directors and designers.
