Director / Designer Speed Networking

Director / Designer Speed Networking

Thursday 30 July

2.00 – 4.00pm

This speed-networking event for designers and directors is an opportunity to meet more artists and potentially find new collaborators and partnerships for the future.

We haven’t done this over Zoom before but the idea is that you will have the opportunity to meet with a number of different artists over the session.

We will use the breakout rooms so that each pair will meet for five to ten minutes chat and each share information about their work, practice and interests.

When starting a director-designer partnership, one of the key things to consider is whether or not you have mutual tastes. Please bring an image which has influenced a production you have worked on or are planning to work on.

If you are interested in attending, please click the sign-up button above and fill in your details and let us know if you have any access requirements. Zoom details will then be sent to you the day before.

The session will be facilitated by designer Khadija Raza and director Joe Hancock.

Khadija Raza is a performance designer based in London. She studied BA Design for Stage at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She was one of the winners of the Linbury Prize 2017 and won the Stage Debut Award for best designer, 2018.

Joseph Hancock is a freelance director from Dudley. He trained at the Young Vic on the Jerwood Assistant Director programme on If You Kiss Me, Kiss Me, and at the Birmingham Rep on the JMK Regional Bursary Scheme. Postponed projects include: Assembly (Donmar Warehouse). Previous work includes: (This Isn’t) A True Story (Almeida), Great British Mysteries? (Soho Theatre). Joseph is also Education Associate at The Old Vic.

RTYDS is currently curating the Young Vic Directors Programme. You don’t need to be a member of the Genesis Network to take part in this session, but you do need to be a professional director, designer or producer and not in full time education.
